Building self-confidence

The impact of low self-confidence or having a confidence 'wobble' is a theme that we often encounter in our coaching work. Often we find that the impact can lead to the avoidance of taking opportunities/meeting challenges, or to impaired performance.

1. Acknowledge Your Strengths: Taking the time to recognise your own talents, strengths, and achievements can help build your self-confidence. Make a list of your positive qualities and accomplishments, and keep it somewhere visible. Do you know what your strengths are?

2. Focus on Your Goals: Setting goals for yourself and working to achieve them is a great way to build self-confidence. Focus on goals that are achievable, and break them down into smaller steps to help you stay motivated and track your progress.

3. Spend Time With Positive People: People who are positive and supportive can help you feel good about yourself. Surround yourself with people who lift you up, and avoid those who put you down or who drain your energy.

4. Ditch Negative Self-talk: Pointless negative self-talk can be damaging to self-confidence. Avoid talking down to yourself and focus on replacing negative thoughts with positive ones.

5. Celebrate Your Wins: Celebrating your successes, no matter how small, can help boost your self-confidence. Take time to recognise your accomplishments, and don’t forget to give yourself a pat on the back.

I hope these are helpful for you and/or your teams. If you require more in-depth support and development in this area, do get in touch.
